Pac-man has to be one of the most universally enjoyed and celebrated arcade games. But did you enjoy playing Ms Pac-man? In some ways this follow up game was better than its predecessor. But this game often doesn’t get the acclaim it ought to. And here at Williams Amusements, we have our very own original, refurbished Ms Pac-Man machine, direct from the USA. As a result, we have produced this buyers guide to Ms Pac-Man.
Ms Pac-Man was released in 1982, two years after the original Pac-Man, and it became hugely popular. Adding in a female protagonist, and an abundance of new mazes, Ms Pac-Man brought in a wave of improved gameplay options.
Following on from the original, the aim of Ms Pac-Man is to move around the maze, eating pellets and avoiding the ghosts. If you eat the power pellet, the ghosts will turn blue and can be eaten for extra points. There are also bonus fruits that can also increase your points.
As you move through the rounds, the speed of the same will increase, and the power pellet will have less of an impact on the ghosts, eventually having no impact whatsoever.
However, Ms Pac-Man has some differences. These include:
- 4 different mazes with different colour schemes
- 3 of the mazes use warp tunnels
- the walls have a solid colour so it is slightly easier to see the maze path
- the ghosts behavioural patterns are different
- different sound effects and music
Ms Pac-Man is every bit a enjoyable as the original Pac-Man and is different enough to be a challenge even to a seasoned Pac-Man champion. With different mazes to learn, and different enemy behaviour to monitor, Ms Pac-Man is a fun, challenging game that will keep you on your toes.
